Welcome to tutoring that is based on individualized assessments, activities and games for your Kiddo!
Are you a frustrated Parent /
Caregiver looking for a white flag to wave?
“The information my kiddo’s teachers are sharing is confusing!”
“How do I help improve my kiddo’s Reading or Math skills!”
“I have no idea where to start!”
“I surrender!”
“Help!”
Parent / Caregiver your worries are over!!
I’m here to provide individualized assessments and activities that will lead to growth!
Tutoring based on Individualized Assessments
Our starting point will be for you to share the assessments and documentation you’ve received from your kiddo’s teachers and staff. I will analyze the reports and their observational notes. This data will be the beginning guide in creating individualized Reading and Math assessments for your kiddo.
For assessing, I like to have three levels of assessments ready: high, medium, and low. Sometimes, the shared information can be misleading. Your kiddo might have been having a rough day when the test was given. Or maybe your kiddo misunderstood the directions. There are so many factors that can affect the outcomes of a kiddo’s scores.
My focus will be to combine the data you’ve provided with the information I’ve collected from their individualized assessments to build our Lesson Plans for confidence and success.
Tutoring with Individualized Activities
Secondly, in the design of your kiddo’s activities and games, I like to include their favorite animated or real characters. They get excited seeing their “friends” as part of their work. Then, the activity doesn’t seem like work, but something fun to do.
For this kiddo, anything related to Dr. Suess brought excitement.
For this kiddo,
anything Pink or with
Unicorns was exciting.
My Lesson Plans are generated with your kiddo’s interests in mind. I closely monitor the pacing of the content for each of our work sessions. I will go “with the flow” of your kiddo’s mindset in any particular session.
For example, sometimes you have to build snow, grass, and mud, before you can build the given quantities of cubes.
At various times, I will send home individualized games or activities for your kiddo to “teach” you. It’s such a confidence builder for them: “I know how to play this game and they don’t know. I can teach them.”
Tutoring for Individualized Growth
Finally, throughout our collaboration, I will periodically share with you the spectrum of your kiddo’s Grade Level Objectives /Benchmarks. We will discuss the skills they have mastered and the skills needing to be addressed. I find it helps to include your kiddo in the discussion of this information. I believe it builds their confidence and understanding. Suddenly, they become “owners” of their learning when they participate in determining the future goals for activities.
For me, the Benchmarks are an example of a building with many steps to climb. We will discuss what “step” your kiddo is on. In addition, we will review if some previous steps need to be rebuilt prior to climbing forward. True growth can only happen if your kiddo is standing on strong steps. Our goal is for their growth to be lasting and not temporary.
